海外では、知られていないひな祭りですが、
ひな人形の美しさに興味を持つ外国人は多いでしょう。
子供が外国人講師にひな祭りを英語で説明したいときなど
どのように英語で説明したらいいのでしょうか？

Hinamatsuri is a celebration for young girl’s healthy growth and happiness.
ひな祭りは、女の子の健やかな成長と幸せを願うお祝いです。

Hinamatsuri is also known as peach festival because that time is the season for peach blossom.
ひな祭りは、桃の節句としても知られていて、その理由は、その季節は桃の花が咲く時期だからです。
ひな祭りの雛人形を英語で説明しよう！
Most families with young girls display special dolls called Hina-ningyo for Hinamatsuri.
ひな祭りには、女の子のいる多くの家庭では、ひな人形と呼ばれる特別な人形を飾ります。
Hina means the main empress doll of Hina-ningyo, and ningyo means doll.
ヒナは、ひな人形のお姫様を、ニンギョウは、人形を意味しています。
On Hinamatsuri, a set of Hina-ningyo displayed on a five or seven-tiered stand covered with a red carpet. On the first level, it includes Odairi-sama which means the Emperor doll, Ohina-sama which means the Empress. On the second level, it includes Sannin-kanjo which means three court ladies. On the third level, it includes Gonin-bayashi which means five court musicians. On the fourth level, Udaijin which means the minister of the right, Sadaijin which means the minister of the left. On the fifth level, it includes Sannin-jougo which means three servants.
ひな祭りには、雛人形のセットは、赤いじゅうたんで覆われた5段や7段のひな壇に飾られます。
1段目には、お内裏様と呼ばれる王様の人形、お雛様と呼ばれるお姫様の人形、2段目には、三人官女と呼ばれる3人の女性、3段目には、五人囃子と呼ばれる5人のミュージシャン、４段目には、右大臣、左大臣、5段目には、三人上戸と呼ばれる3人の召使の人形が含まれています。
Hina-ningyo are decorated on a five or seven-tiered stand covered with a red carpet.
雛人形は、赤いじゅうたんで覆われた5段や7段のひな壇に飾られます。
The dolls wear traditional court costumes of the Heian era(794-1185 ).
人形たちは平安時代の宮廷の衣装を着ています。
Hina-ningyo displayed through the festival season. Usually they have been displayed from middle of February to 3rd of March.
雛人形はひな祭りシーズンの間飾られています。たいてい2月中旬から3月3日までです。
We are encouraged to put them away as soon as possible after March 3. It is believed that if we don’t do that, the girl’s marriage will be delayed, however it is just a superstition.
3月3日が過ぎたらなるべく早くひな人形を片付けるようにと言われています。もし、そうしなければ、その女の子の婚期が遅れると信じられているからです。とはいえ、ただの迷信ですけどね。

1段目：お内裏様、お雛様 the Emperor, the Empress
2段目：三人官女 three court ladies (sannin-kanjo)
3段目：五人囃子five musicians (gonin-bayashi)
4段目：随身である右大臣、左大臣 the minister of the right(udaijin), the minister of the left(sadaijin)
5段目：三人上戸と呼ばれる3人の召使 three servants
ちなみに、ぼんぼりは、英語でLanternです。
